Your soul pierced the black,
guiding me to your shore;

to you, unmasked,
regardless of
jovial exterior;

your amiable patina,
outshined by
your inner light;

moonbeams divine
whitecap from ocean,
revealing your pain;

inside, you’re lonely like me;
we resonate without words;

wings spread,
I flew to you.

Love-at-first sight? Superficial,
unlike your beckoning lighthouse.

luminous coven of midnight gypsy moths

her magic flavors fertile night
among lightless thickets
moonlight seeping from sybaritic palms
transmuted into diamond-dust
as it rises to the Moth King’s pale coat
merging

only
monolithic haystack audience
bear witness to
what mage commandeers or defers
which berthed witch
sorcerer or summoner

shadow trails enchantress’ past
ripened midnight transcendence
seasons her fermented moon

Essential Stargazing

I stare up at rivers of stars

trillions of billions of miles

eons into shadowy pasts

possibly null, lifeless void

or maybe, billowing, countless

lonely souls like you and me

gazing back at us

 

eternities apart

from one another

unlike you and me

though close by comparison

in action of thought

never quite close enough.

Day 2 – Stray

Stray

Patrolling her territory,

my world,

never coming when called,

always checking in

distant and affectionate,

refusing my offerings

until just beyond my reach,

owned by no one,

she is mine and I am hers.

 

This nebulous non-arrangement

somehow evolves

my capacity to love

and accept love

without labels, trinkets,

tags, or attachment.

 

Then she’s gone.

I followed imaginary garden with real toads’ Flash 55 PLUS! Prompt, complete with optional “Worlds Apart” vs “Extremely Close” themed challenge. This was a fun one. I feel like it’s been too long since I hopped on the lily pads and played a bit.
